Birmingham, 25th April 2013

Hosted by Atkins

As we announced last week, PTRC is running a one day conference on the Better Bus Areas (round 2) Fund and Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG) Reform. The conference is organised in partnership with TPS, Travel South Yorkshire, Centro and Passenger Focus.

We are pleased to announce that conference will be chaired by Professor Peter Mackie from the Institute of Transport Studies (ITS), University of Leeds.

The conference will also include presentations from industry leaders such as:

Mark Kemp (Oxfordshire County Council)

David Young (SYPTE)

Chris Perry (Centro)

James Padden (DfT)

Robert Montgomery (Stagecoach)

David Sidebottom (Passenger Focus)

Alan Brett and Matt Gamble (Atkins)

Phil Halewood (Mersey Travel)

David Sidebottom (Passenger Focus)

Peter Elliott (SYPTE)

Why Should You Attend?

The Department for Transport (DfT) has announced reform and changes to BSOG. The reform will include devolution of BSOG to local authorities to allow decisions to be taken locally. There will be the creation of a new local government fund “Better Bus Areas” (BBA) which will encourage local transport authorities and bus companies to work closely together to improve services and boost passenger numbers by submitting business proposals.

This one day conference will provide a timely opportunity for transport professionals in the public and private sectors to:

·         Share knowledge and good practices for bus partnership and governance

·         Discuss different aspects of BBA2 and BSOG reform

·         Generate innovative ideas for interventions and packages for bid proposals

·        Make the most of networking opportunities
