An Introduction to Highway Design, Engineering & Maintenance

Event dates and location: 19th – 20th November 2013, London

Ongoing cut-backs and restraint in funding of highway construction and maintenance has led to even greater need for practitioners from varied backgrounds to gain an appreciation and understanding of cost-effective highway design, specification and implementation. The principles of highway engineering apply not only to the construction of major new road schemes, but also to smaller improvements, reconstruction and ongoing road maintenance, carriageway widening, traffic calming, traffic management, cycle ways and residential road design.

This two day course will consider the roles and responsibilities of highway authorities and consultants and guide participants through highway design, implementation and maintenance processes of new or remodelled roads.
