Going green in our society is all about achieving sustainability. This means we are able to complete our day-to-day activities with minimal impact on the environment. Making a sustainable decision about travelling is particularly significant given the impact transport has on the environment in general. The increasing concerns over reducing road congestion and carbon emissions, and the urge to promote a healthier lifestyle for the general public are some of the key factors to encourage cycling as a sustainable mode of transport

However, collisions involving cyclists on UK roads mean there is an urgent need for better guidance on road design to incorporate the movement of cycling and the rising interest in cycling calls for measures that ensure cycling is seen as a safe and regular mode of transport.
